Liz Lincoln, MD
I am an experienced primary care physician and also a consultant at the Benson Henry Institute. I have additional certifications in Stress Management and Resiliency Training, Lifestyle Medicine, and Trauma Informed Coaching. I have been married for 30 years, have 4 adult children, and have navigated and found my way through burnout to rediscover my passion for life and work. Connection and relationship are foremost in my approach to coaching and life in general. I love to motivate, encourage, and help others succeed. Though I believe the physician themself is important, improving one physician’s wellbeing has a huge impact on so many. Thus, coaching to me is invaluable work. In my coaching, I also use mind-body techniques such as meditation and deep breathing to help you hear your own voice of inner wisdom, and reframing thought patterns which get us stuck in the stress response. I love coaching physicians because as one, I understand the pressures of the practice of medicine and the struggles of finding work life balance. I recognize that the present culture of medicine is not necessarily what we may have envisioned it to be, and yet we can still find agency, meaning and discover what brings us joy. In many ways, our training and current climate are detrimental to our wellbeing, and I have specifically taken a course on trauma-informed coaching to address and mitigate these adverse experiences. As physicians, we have learned to put patients first. However, this often comes at cost to us. In our time together, it is my sincere hope that you will be inspired to recognize your strengths, improve your self-compassion, invest in self-care, and regain a sense of purpose. Other areas where I may be of help include understanding some of the challenges faced by being a person of color.
